For 30 years, Jeff Lambert of Marshfield, Massachusetts, has worked for various construction firms, including in his role as chief executive officer with Ocean Bluff Development, LLC. He manages all contract phases and supervises sub-contractors and accounts payable and receivable for projects such as a 125,000-square-foot multiuse office building in Marshfield and apartment rebuilds in Caneel Bay, US Virgin Islands. Prior to starting his career, Jeff Lambert attended the Wentworth Institute of Technology (WIT) in Boston, where he studied construction management.
WIT not only offers construction management students a well-rounded course of study, but students interested in launching their own start-up can get guidance through the student-run accelerator, Accelerate. Formally titled Accelerate, Wentworth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, it has become a hub where partnership, the Boston community, student-inspired innovative ideas, coursework, alumni, and industry converge to launch fascinating businesses. At the WIT program, students have access to six construction labs and are taught the latest technologies, in addition to being able to participate in real construction projects.
The program’s can-do culture equips students with the tools to transform their ideas into reality. Since Accelerate was established in 2012, more than 7,570 people have participated in the platform that prepares students to become entrepreneurs.
